Since we have not seen or evaluated these pets, we cannot make any representation or take responsibility for any pet’s temperament or health. Prospective adopters should contact the shelter or owner listed with each pet.

Rebel

Meet Rebel! Rebel is a very sweet and faithful 9-year-old who loves to give and get attention. He loves to cuddle and lounge! Rebel needs to go to a new home as soon as possible where he can be the only pet in the house.

Rebel is neutered and up-to-date on his shots. He lives in Michigan City, Indiana. To meet Rebel, please contact kileymc26@yahoo.com.

Zona

Zona, an approximately ten year old border collie mix, is seeking a new home. Zona was taken in as a stray in 2004, and it was clear from her behaviors that she had had a difficult past. Trainers have described her as “fear aggressive”. This intelligent and loyal dog has made many positive changes since those first days. She has developed the ability to walk on a leash and has developed relationships with some people given the right approach. Still, when scared, she can have great difficulties. Her loyalty has recently caused her to be too protective of her family’s new children. She has always been safe toward the children, but her protectiveness of them has sadly made it impossible for her to continue to be a part of her family.

If anyone is interested in the rewards that can come from working with a special needs dog and is willing to work through her challenges, we are very interested in working with such a person to promote her new transition. Buttons

Buttons is a 14 year old, declawed female. She is healthy and has a good disposition. Because she is older, she takes frequent “cat-naps”. She is in desperate need of a home immediately since her owner has just died suddenly and no arrangements were made for Buttons care. A quiet home without children or other pets would be better for her. Perhaps a senior would open their heart and home to another “senior”.

Buttons is currently in an empty condo in Palos Hills that is going up for sale soon. She is visited several times a day, but needs a new, permanent family as soon as possible. Contact Janice Marco at 708-207-5849 for information.

Princess

Princess is a 15 year old dog who’s owner moved away and left her to fend for herself. She has a sweet personality and is hoping to find someone to take care of her in her final years.

Milo

This is Milo! He is about 10 years old and is generally very sweet and gentle. Milo’s family has a 10 month old baby who can pull his tail and hair and Milo just lays there and takes it. He is neutered and although he still has his claws he has never used them on anyone or anything. He loves being around people and will follow you around like a little puppy. He also loves to be pet and brushed and just loves attention in general.

Trinity

Meet Trinity! She’s a 13-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback, spayed, is red wheaten with showing grey and she weighs roughly 100 lbs. She is a sweet girl and does well with people. She is picky with which types of dogs that she will get along – stronger willed dogs fare better with her. She’s great home protector. At this stage in her life, she’s mostly a napper, but enjoys her walks. Hopefully there’s someone out there that can give her a new home to live out her golden years!

Molly

Meet Miss Molly! She is a Shepherd Mix, about 9 years old and 45 pounds. Molly was pulled from a shelter near Culver, Indiana, where she was brought in as a stray. Molly is house-trained and a little shy at first, but warms up quickly. She’s partially deaf, but good with kids and with other dogs. Molly needs a new home to live out her golden years.

Hey there, my name is Cody. I am 11 years old. I’m here at Homeward Bound Pet Shelter in Decatur, IL. with my sister Zoey. We are a bonded pair and have to be adopted together. Thunder Cat

In need of temporary housing ASAP.

My name is Thunder Cat. Though crazily named, I am an affectionate six year old spayed female who likes to cuddle. I am comfortable around other animals and children. I am looking for temporary housing while my Owner finds a new home. We were out placed by a fire and now that the house is finished being rebuilt we would like to sell it outright. In order to do that my owner needs to move in with her mom who is allergic to me. We are looking for a loving family to care for me until our housing arrangements can be settled.

Rocky

Hi, I’m Rocky the cat! I am looking for quiet home that has no small children. Preferably older people. I am seven years old, very friendly, smart, and furry.

Ellie

Meet Ellie, a purebred German Shepherd who needs a new home.

Female German Shepherd * Saddleback * 87 lbs. * approx. 6 years old * has delivered at least 2 litters of puppies but has been spade recently * has an ID chip that will need to be updated * current vet visits * seems to have had some training and does respond to her name as well as commands * she is 95% housebroken (change in environment) * she hasn’t been exposed to cats but has lived with other dogs and seems to do better with dogs smaller than her – she likes to be in charge * might be better for her to be the only dog in the house * she has jumped our 4 ft. chain link when she sees another dog out for a walk, but only seems to be interested in sniffing them, then returns on call.

She has been around children on a minimal basis and has showed no signs of aggression towards them. In fact she was welcoming to their attention and allowed them to pet her. This is a very good dog who just needs to be with someone who can offer her the time and love she needs.

Calico Kitty and Hot Shot

Meet this dynamic duo, Calico Kitty and Hot Shot! This pretty pair need a new home because their mom broke her hip and can no longer take care of them. They are both 8 years old, spayed and up to date on their vaccines. Calico Kitty (female) is a little shy but very affectionate once she gets to know you. She looks much younger than her years. Hot Shot (male) is more assertive, and also super affectionate. They are used to being around other cats, and also small dogs. They currently are living in Maywood.

Mistique

Mistique is a very gentle and affectionate 9 year old young lady! She is sweet, cute and low-key. Mistique enjoys spending time hanging out and daydreaming about having her own home. We think she is overlooked by visitors because she doesn’t run up and greet them like some other kitties. She prefers to have visitors find her. Also, since she is a black cat, she has an even harder time getting noticed. Some people just don’t understand how awesome black cats are! Please stop by Heartland to meet Mistique. We know it will be love at first sight.

Snicklefritz

Meet Snicklefritz, a tame and loving calico who needs a new home. Snicklefritz is spayed and about 10 years old. She currently lives in Palatine but desperately needs a home immediately. She is a calico of grey, white, and orange. She is soooo very friendly and loves to cuddle. One look, and she will melt your heart!

Junior

Meet Junior! Junior needs a new home since his mom went into a nursing home. He’s 16 years old and in very good health. He’s quiet, front paws declawed, neutered, and will be affectionate if he’s the only pet. Otherwise, he will find a quiet spot and keep to himself and let you know when he’s hungry. He always uses the litter box.
